RTC BPC + GRADUATION

  • Reception and Treatment Center 3218 West Van Dorn Street Lincoln, NE, 68522 United States (map)

Key touchpoints and notes for the day:

RISE Event “Set-up Staff” arrives to the facility at 7:30AM

Volunteers and volunteering RISE staff will arrive at 8:00am

IMPORTANT ARRIVAL NOTES:

Please turn your State ID/Driver’s License into the front desk, but keep your NDCS volunteer badge on you. Secure your personal items into a locker, and sit quietly in the waiting area until it's time to be processed through security.

It’s important, especially at RTC, to keep voice volume levels to a minimum.

RTC's lobby is VERY loud and voices carry easily - please be sure to keep voices down and pay attention to Chantal and what all NDCS officers are asking of you. Many policies have changed, so our attentiveness is important. The staff at RTC is very kind, and as staff and volunteers we know we are always excited to see each other (meaning: loud), so this is a friendly reminder that we need to "keep it down" for their sake and catch up after the event.

Lastly, the security search has changed at RTC! It's becoming reminiscent of an airport search as you are now going to be stepping into a large body-scanning machine. Please remember this is only to keep you, them, and our friends inside safe.

Once you place your shoes, belts, and locker keys into a bin to be scanned (like your carry-ons at the airport) you will step to the side and wait in a line, quietly, and will be asked to step inside a very large box and give the officer your last name. You will stand on two yellow foot prints with your hands by your side (we learned the funny way that you don't put your hands in the air) and you will be scanned in mere seconds for objects that are not to be coming inside facilities.

Body Scanner Look-a-like at RTC

When the scan is complete, you will step out of the box and sit in a chair in a hallway until it is your turn to be pat searched, and then you will receive your shoes and will be ready to go.

The process will move very quickly if everyone is quiet, patient, and paying attention. We understand this is very "out of the norm" for many, but if this is what keeps people safe, we will do what we have to do. We appreciate your understanding!

If you are or could be pregnant, have any questions or concerns with any of this process prior to the event, please reach out to Chantal immediately. Pregnancy and other medical scenarios will require a doctors note indicating you will need an alternative form of search.
