Registering to Vote for the First Time.

On Wednesday, October 16th, 2024, the Nebraska Supreme Court restored LB20 and says people who have completed their felony convictions MUST be allowed to register and vote.

RISE's Director of Public Policy and Advocacy, Jasmine Harris, has been advocating for the voting rights of people with criminal histories for 8 years. Jasmine and RISE's Policy Fellow, Olivia Larson, both members representing RISE in the Nebraska Voting Rights Restoration Coalition, worked tirelessly to ensure the people were heard, and they finally were.

RISE's Jason Kotas, Community Navigator, was able to register to vote for the first time in over 50 years. He is one of MANY.

Nebraska believes in second chances.
