Real Reentry: Up the Ladder

RISE Graduate in Nebraska smiles during a coaching day in prison

“Evan” graduated from RISE's In-Prison Program in June and has spent the last several months working with his RISE Community Navigator, Cody, as he transitioned down to the community correctional center. Together they created an employment plan that helps Evan gain employment skills and move up the career ladder, all while celebrating his sobriety.

Thanks to several RISE volunteers that reviewed his cover letter and resume, Evan quickly obtained a job in Omaha. Within three months he went from an entry level position to forklift training and is now moving into the maintenance department making $26 per hour!

You read that right. $26 per hour!

Cody and Evan made an intentional and obtainable plan that is helping him save enough money to return home to the East Coast, be closer to family, and start his own business.

We are so proud of Evan for his tenacity and commitment to succeed. We're also incredibly proud of Cody for being a positive support system and leading with the RISE value of "withness".
