RISE Business Academy graduates celebrate and information is displayed about the RISE Business Academy cohort starting in January 2024.

The RISE Business Academy (RBA) is now accepting applications for it’s 9th Cohort starting January 17, 2024.

The RBA is a 12-week program led by Dr. TJ Dickson, held just three times a year with a Business Pitch Competition and Graduation taking place at the end of each cohort.

This program is for people in the community who have lived experience in the carceral system by way of self or loved one. Applicants with lived experience must have been released for at least one year. The families of those with lived experience must have already started a business, want to formalize one and/or need some structure around it, or have a strong business idea that they are ready to start!

Classes for the RISE Business Academy are offered in a hybrid form taking place at RISE’s Omaha office (3555 Farnam Street, Suite #501 | Omaha, NE 68131) and via Zoom.

Participants will hear from industry professionals, write a business plan, get paired with a business mentor, find resources in the community, and pitch a business for prize money! Participants will also join a community of support in RISE.
