King of King Church Gifts RISE with Generous Donation

Omaha, NE - RISE is delighted to announce the generous gift of $10,000 from King of Kings Church in Omaha, Nebraska. The generosity of King of Kings will allow for RISE’s Community Navigation team to provide hygiene essential packs to RISE graduates returning home after incarceration. Not only do these packs show the support of our community members, they take a substantial financial burden off returning citizens.

RISE is the largest nonprofit organization in Nebraska focused solely on habilitative programming in prisons and reentry support. At RISE, transformation starts pre-release and continues post-release. RISE uses an inside/out model bridging incarceration to the community and considers all the critical steps in that journey. The organization prepares and trains people for each phase through intensive character development, employment readiness, job creation through entrepreneurship, family programming and case management. RISE transforms people in the community by building awareness and empathy that leads to support and opportunity.  These connections heal families, create employment pathways and lower recidivism. The mission of RISE is to break generational cycles of incarceration.

Erica Raetz, Director of Reentry Services at RISE says, “Through King of Kings generosity, RISE’s Reentry Team will be able to provide hygiene items to individuals who are returning from incarceration to the community. This allows people to take a breath - instead of worrying about getting a toothbrush and deodorant, they’re able to focus on reconnecting with family, meeting with their RISE Community Navigator, and planning for their future! RISE is grateful for King of Kings support that allows us to continue to break generational cycles of incarceration.”

RISE anticipates over 200 In-Prison Program graduates to be granted parole or be mandatory discharged in the next 18 months. Since 2017, RISE has had 260 In-Prison Program graduates return to the community with a less than 10% recidivism rate.

“We are so excited to partner with Rise during our 2023 All In generosity campaign.  RISE’s mission is compelling and the programs, supplies, and support that you provide to people coming out of incarceration is transformative, breaking generational cycles, and truly changing the trajectory of people’s lives.  Such a gift!” says King of Kings Director of Next Steps and Community Engagement, Lara Ray.

King of Kings was founded in 1962 and has belonged to the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Synod comes from the Greek word “walking together”. They walk in God’s transformative love together as a community of Reliant, Courageous, Authentic, and Generosity-driven people. King of Kings has over 3,500 members and operates in two Omaha locations.
