We proudly invite you to join Anastasis Theatre Co. and RISE for a Film Streams' Exclusive Screening of the film Sing Sing, starring Colman Domingo (Rustin, The Color Purple) on August 2, followed by a powerful panel discussion featuring formerly incarcerated individuals who will share their personal journeys and the transformative impact of the arts.
Sing Sing is an A24 film based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through the Arts [RTA] program at Sing Sing maximum security prison. The film centers on a group of incarcerated individuals involved in the creation of theatrical stage shows through the program. It stars professional actors Colman Domingo and Paul Raci, alongside many real-life formerly incarcerated men who were themselves alumni of the program during their incarceration, including Clarence "Divine Eye" Maclin and Sean San José.

Dee Dee Gatson is the founder of Q.U.E.E.N.S. Butterfly House - a non-profit focused on making a safe and supportive place for women to call home while navigating their reentry. Being formerly incarcerated herself, Dee Dee has seen how the lack of housing, resources, education, employment, and, most of all, support will lead an individual back into incarceration. She feels that through intentional peer support, building relationships, educating and providing job readiness skills, and wrap-around aftercare services, the QUEENS will be able to straighten their crowns as productive, self-sufficient community members.
