Please join RISE and your loved one on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024 from 11:45 am to 3:30 pm for their RISE Graduation and Business Pitch Competition!
Please read this page in entirety as there is very important information you need to know.
Your loved one has spent the past six+ months in a program that focuses on character development, leadership, job readiness, building positive relationships, and developing an entrepreneurial mindset. During this time, they've created business plans from scratch and pitched them to panels of community-volunteer judges, competing for IOU prizes to help with their reentry when the time comes.
How are business plans and pitches relevant to reentry planning? This exercise is all about making the most of opportunities, overcoming challenges, succeeding in different situations, asking for help, and thinking critically about problems. In the end, it all connects!
We are SO excited for you to celebrate this huge accomplishment with your loved one!
Below is VERY important information for you to know:
Please eat before you arrive. Typically, RISE is allowed to serve lunch during our graduations, however, we are not allowed to do that on the 25th.
Because we love feeding you, each family will receive a gift card to Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers before you leave the facility to go home! Freddy’s is generously throwing a fundraiser for RISE at ALL Lincoln, NE locations on Thursday, the 26th and they have been fantastic hiring partners for RISE graduates in the community! (We’re also suckers for their delicious shoestring fries and frozen custard)
Your arrival time inside the Nebraska State Penitentiary lobby on September 25th is at exactly 11:45 AM.
We completely understand that naturally, you’re going to be excited and want to arrive early (we would too). However, the Nebraska Department of Corrections gives very strict instructions to NOT ARRIVE EARLY. So pretty please, do not arrive inside the facility lobby until exactly 11:45 AM. If you are early, we ask that you please wait in your car until 11:45 AM.
When you arrive, look for RISE Volunteer Relations Manager, Chantal Wentz. She will be your “travel guide” for the day!
All you need to bring is your photo ID. DO NOT FORGET YOUR ID! If you do not have your ID, you will not be allowed into the facility and we'll be so sad.
You will need to abide by the Nebraska Department of Corrections’ dress code. We’ve simplified it for you at the bottom of this page.
All attendees must complete the Attendee Release and Waiver of Liability Agreement before attending.
Photos will be taken at this event! It will take about 1-2 months for the photos to be ready. A link will be sent to you via a text message where you will be able to access and download the photos at your leisure.
This event ends promptly at 3:30 PM.
We will send a reminder text message to you 2 days prior to the event.
