What happens next?

Now that you’ve registered to volunteer for this event, you’re in a brief “holding pattern”. We are reviewing all your volunteer information to ensure you’re the right fit for one of our RISE participant’s business ideas!

We will be in touch with you within 2 business days to let you know. Please be patient with us as some days we are working inside prison facilities without access to email, so we can be a little slower to respond.

At that time we’ll also let you know a more accurate time frame of when to expect this opportunity to “launch”.

What if I’m not a good for a Participant’s Business Idea?

Sometime’s it happens! Our program participants fill out a very thorough questionnaire regarding their business idea and the information they are seeking out. If your expertise doesn’t align with what our participants are working on, we’d love to save your time for the next round! We’re not shy to ask. :) We’ll be sure to chat with you about it first to gather more information and see if we can make it work, however!

Is there anything important I should pay attention to?

Keep an eye on your email! If you submitted your registration with an email you do not check frequently, please contact Chantal Wentz, Volunteer Relations Manager, and have her update your volunteering profile in our system with one you check every day.

We will email you a few times:

  • when to expect your volunteering assignment and materials to review

  • your volunteering assignment and materials “launching” the event

  • a follow-up and check-in

  • a deadline reminder

The deadline to complete your research/feedback is extremely important. The days of the volunteering opportunity is set up strategically based on the day your research/feedback must go back inside facilities. If you do not meet the deadline, your RISE participant will not have any research helping them, and that’s a real bummer.

If there’s a group that understands crazy schedules, chauffeuring kids, and pivoting our days, it’s us! If time gets away from you or you simply feel like you’ve overcommitted yourself, IT’S OK! We promise! Just don’t “ghost” us. Let us know as soon as possible we need to reassign your RISE participant to another volunteer! We won’t ban you from volunteering with RISE in the future! Chances are, we’ll even beg you to volunteer the next time! :)
