Thank you Dinner vendors!

The Family Wellness Collective (FWC) is a relatively small discussion and activity group that meets every week to discuss selected topics that focus on reducing family strain, conflict, and emotional distress while increasing social support, effective communication, and family organization. There are six overarching themes: Healthy Relationships; Communication; Grief, Loss, Trauma & Moving On; Self-Awareness; Parenting; Building Positive Community.

These topics are each discussed during six-week cohorts over the course of 10 months.

These are NOT “classes” in the traditional sense. Instead, they are informal but informative and include thought experiment and skill-building "in session" group activities plus a little take-home work. The goal is to provide a meal for a “family dinner” style semi-structured conversation co-facilitated by everyone who is present.

While these weekly discussions are geared towards selected topics, the dinners quickly become the focal point and turn into a true family meal. The participants grow in their relationships with each other and use the weekly dinners to find “their people.” Participants may be RISE graduates that have completed the re-entry program or may be family members who are new to their understanding of the criminal justice system.

No matter where these families stand, they have one thing in common: finding support from FWC. During the weekly dinners, participants can share their experiences and advice. These opportunities to share support solidify the family bond that participants can form. It becomes easier for participants to want to come and complete the program knowing that there is a support group built-in with the dinners.

These shared dinners would not be possible without the food! So a special thank you to all the vendors who make these dinners possible. The food helps create a welcoming and enticing offer for families and participants to come back every week.
